Meikle Tòir The Chinquapin One is a five-year-old, heavily peated single malt from GlenAllachie in Speyside, bottled at 48% without chill-filtration or added colour. It matured first in ex-bourbon barrels of American oak, then in unused Chinquapin oak casks from the northern Ozark region of Missouri. The barley was dried over mainland peat from St. Fergus, which gives a sweeter, woodsmoke-like character, and fermentation ran for 160 hours. The phenol level of the distillate is 35 ppm. The nose combines smouldering oak embers, burnt liquorice and honeycomb, with heather, ginger, butterscotch and orange peel. On the palate come dark chocolate, crème brûlée and roasted almonds, then cinnamon, toffee, aniseed and lingering campfire smoke. The finish is long and oily, with vanilla and incense-like notes.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
