GlenAllachie Present Edition is a 16 year old single malt released to mark Master Distiller Billy Walker's fifty years in the whisky industry. It is the first in The Past, Present and Future Series and looks back to the heavily sherried expressions that first made his name.
The whisky is a vatting of nine Spanish sherry butts from 2005, fully sherry matured. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.1% with no added colouring and without chill filtration, in a release of 4,000 bottles.
The nose offers walnuts, heather honey and subtle dried fruits, then toasted coffee, orange peel and cinnamon. The palate brings fig syrup, caramelised muscovado sugar, roasted pine nuts, crystallised ginger and dried apricots.
