The fourth release in GlenAllachie's experimental Sinteis series, named after the Scots Gaelic word for synthesis. This single malt was distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2026 after ten years of maturation, at a cask strength of 58.5% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered, of natural colour and a limited edition.
The spirit was first matured in bourbon barrels, then split between Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. The two parts were married and finished in Mongolian virgin oak.
The nose offers baked pastry, butterscotch, brandy-soaked orchard fruit, cocoa and treacle tart, with cinnamon and candied ginger. On the palate come candied hazelnuts, baking spices, plum syrup, baked orange, vanilla ice cream and mocha, then manuka honey and fig jam.
