Glendalough – Pot Still Irish Whiskey (70cl, 43%)

Glendalough Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a single cask bottling, matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in slowly toasted 250-litre hogsheads of Irish oak. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The finishing wood comes from the Wicklow Mountains, and for every tree felled Glendalough plants seven young ones. Each bottle carries bottle, batch, cask and tree numbers, so the oak behind its cask can be traced. The nose has sweet citrus, vanilla, caramel, banana and dark syrup, with earthy, herbal notes, oak spice and leather. The palate is warm, buttery and full, with pear and toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and firm toasted-oak tannins. The long finish brings creamy vanilla, almond and red berries.
