Gold Spot Aged 13 Years Generations Edition is a triple-distilled single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It is the second release in the Gold Spot series curated by Mitchell & Son of Dublin, and it celebrates the meeting of two seven-generation families: the Mitchells and the Speri family of the Secondo Marco winery in Italy. The whiskey spent 13 years in ex-bourbon American oak and ex-Oloroso sherry casks, followed by 16 months in Recioto della Valpolicella Classica wine casks from the winery in Fumane, near Verona. It was bottled at 46% without chill filtration. The nose is oily, with cooked dark fruit, red grape and caramel. The palate is thick and full-bodied, with red apple, brown sugar and dark chocolate, and the finish is long, with dark fruit and soft tannins.
