Redbreast 21 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey made at Midleton Distillery in County Cork from a mash of malted and unmalted barley. It is triple distilled in copper pot stills and bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle, non-chill filtered.
It spends 21 years maturing in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and first-fill Oloroso sherry butts.
The colour is deep burnished gold. The nose is aromatic, with tropical fruit, dried apricot, mango, brandy-soaked prunes, honey, vanilla, toasted nuts and cinnamon. The palate is velvety and creamy, with tropical fruit, vanilla, toasted oak, sherry nuttiness and pot still spice. The finish is very long, with oak, spice and a last note of barley.
