This is a 12 year old single pot still Irish whiskey from the Spot range of Mitchell and Son. It was made at Midleton Distillery, triple distilled, and bottled at 46% (92 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
It is matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, sherry butts and Malaga casks. The Malaga casks add a distinctive sweetness.
The nose is honeyed, with ripe orchard fruit, apricot, peach, toasted oak and light spice. The palate is creamy, with sweet malt, vanilla, baking spice, dried fruit and hints of red berries. The finish is long and warming, with lingering sweetness, oak and gentle spice.
