Hakushu – 18 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky (70cl, 43%)

This is an 18 year old single malt Japanese whisky from the Hakushu distillery, which sits at the foot of the Japanese Southern Alps. The distillery draws on spring water from the Southern Alps, and the whisky is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It matured for eighteen years in carefully selected casks. The nose is fresh and woody, with green tea, mint and cedar wood alongside a little smoke. On the palate, fruity sweetness meets spicy herbs and a touch of peat. The finish is long, with oak and gentle smoke.
