Hakushu – Distiller's Reserve (70cl, 43%)

Hakushu Distiller's Reserve is a Japanese single malt from Suntory's Hakushu Distillery in Hokuto, Yamanashi Prefecture. The distillery stands at about 700 metres at the foot of the Southern Alps and began operating in 1973. This no age statement bottling, introduced as the current core expression in 2012, combines malts of different ages from a range of pot still shapes. Maturation includes American oak casks. Peated malt gives it a light smokiness. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The nose is fresh, with sudachi citrus and mint.
