Hakushu – Distiller's Reserve (70cl, 43%)

A Japanese single malt from the Hakushu distillery, which Suntory founded in 1973 in the southern Japanese Alps. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky brings together several styles from the one distillery: light, young whiskies, older reserves and a small share of heavily peated malt. It is matured in European ex-sherry casks, American ex-bourbon casks and Japanese oak. The nose offers peppermint, juicy melon and crisp cucumber. On the palate come yuzu, grapefruit and lemon thyme, with fresh fruit balanced by gentle smoke. The finish is refreshing with light smoky notes.
