Hakushu Story of the Distillery 2026 Edition is a single malt from Suntory's Hakushu Distillery in Yamanashi, Japan, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. Launched on 26 May 2026, it is the third release in the Story of the Distillery series and carries no age statement.
It is a blend of smoky Hakushu malts matured only in bourbon barrels. The smoke is described as fresh and forest-like, rather than the heavy peat of Islay. The label and box are made with Echizen washi paper and show a Red-flanked Bluetail.
The nose has pineapple and apple with vanilla sweetness, moving towards herbal forest aromas and a hint of roasted tea.
