Hanyu-Kawasaki Ichiro's Malt & Grain Kiyosato Field Ballet 27th Anniversary Japanese Blended Whisky (70cl, 48%)

This is a Japanese blended whisky in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48% ABV in 2016. Ichiro Akuto vatted two single casks, one from the 1990 vintage and one from the 1982 vintage, from the closed Hanyu and Kawasaki distilleries. It marks the 27th anniversary of the Kiyosato Field Ballet, and 700 bottles were released. Kawasaki specialised in grain whisky, and much of its stock was acquired by Akuto in 2006 after it closed. The nose offers caramel sweetness, dried fruits and a touch of spice. On the palate come vanilla, toffee and subtle oak, with hints of tropical fruit and light spice. The finish is smooth and lingering, with sweet corn and gentle spices.
