Hatozaki Mizunara Cask Finish Sixth Edition Omakase Collection (70cl, 42%)

This is the sixth edition of the Hatozaki Omakase Collection, a Japanese blended whisky from the Kaikyo Distillery in Hyogo. It is bottled at 42% in a 70cl bottle. Master distiller Kimio Yonezawa blended bourbon, malt and grain whiskies, which first rested in ex-bourbon casks and were then finished in Japanese mizunara oak. The nose combines vanilla and caramel with cedarwood and a touch of ginger. The palate is full and creamy, with coconut, mild fruit and a hint of nuttiness. The finish is dry and woody, with the spice of mizunara lingering.
