Headframe Kelley is an American single malt whiskey from Headframe Spirits in Butte, Montana, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made from 100% Montana malted barley.
The whiskey is matured first in new oak barrels and used Neversweat Bourbon barrels, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. Butte's climate, with warehouse temperatures running from -45°F in winter to over 100°F in summer, drives a strong exchange between spirit and wood.
The nose is light malt with pear and apricot. The palate brings butterscotch, malt, baking spice and vanilla, and the finish is clean, with toasted wood and a little nuttiness.
