This is a 15 year old Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill, distilled in 2009 and released as number 12 in the Cut Your Wolf Loose series. It is a single cask bottling of 222 bottles, each in a 70cl bottle.
The bourbon was finished in a peated ex-Islay cask that previously held Caol Ila. It took on little peat, but the finish left a spicy, rye-style character. The label artwork is by Cassette Lord, a Brighton street artist.
The nose offers banana bread, candied nuts and uncooked pancake batter. On the palate come brown sugar, big oak spice, black pepper and a faint echo of Caol Ila. The finish is long, moving between oak spice and pepper.
