Heaven's Door Decade Series is a straight rye whiskey aged for ten years in new charred American oak and bottled at 50% in a 75cl bottle. Heaven's Door is the spirits brand co-founded by Bob Dylan, and this rye was distilled at MGP in Indiana from 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
It is a blend of dozens of individually selected ten-year-old ryes, and it is bottled non-chill-filtered.
The nose combines rye bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, dates, vanilla and caramel. The palate opens with black pepper and cloves, then dark chocolate, coffee, orange peel, honey and molasses. The finish is long and warming, with baking spices and dark chocolate bitterness.
