- The Prisoner Red Blend wine barrel finish
This is High West The Prisoner's Share, Batch 25C05, a blend of aged straight rye and straight bourbon whiskeys. It is a US import from Utah, bottled at 51% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The blend is finished in The Prisoner Red Blend wine barrels, which are credited with raspberry jam, toasted mahogany, crème brûlée, black pepper, cherry cola and French oak spice. High West recommend drinking it neat.
The nose is described as cherry blossom, pomegranate, macerated prunes, dried violets, ginger beer, dark mead and toasted cedar chips. On the palate come honey-roasted figs, apricot jam on grilled brioche, black pepper, coconut pound cake and caramel over blood orange slices.
