Viking Scars is a ten-year-old single malt from Highland Park on Orkney, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The name draws on the Norse heritage of the islands.
The whisky matured mostly in sherry-seasoned casks of European and American oak, and no colouring is added. Its gentle smoke comes from heathery Orkney peat, not from the casks.
The nose offers heather honey, citrus, fresh oak and dried apple. The palate is light and sweet, with vanilla, orange, honey, ginger spice and soft smoke. The finish is medium in length, with smoke and sweet spices and a faint saltiness.
