Highland Park Viking Heart is a 15-year-old single malt from Kirkwall on Orkney, bottled at 44% in a white ceramic bottle. It has natural colour but is chill-filtered.
The whisky matured in first-fill, sherry-seasoned casks of American and European oak, alongside refill casks. Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion chose mostly European sherry oak for warm spice, with American sherry oak adding sweet vanilla. The peat comes from local heather-rich Orkney moorland, and its smoke is described as fine.
Pineapple, heather honey, vanilla and cinnamon lead the nose, with soft peat smoke behind. Sweet vanilla pastry and lemon follow on the palate, and the silky finish holds cinnamon spice and gentle peat smoke.
