Highland Park 21 Years Old is the 2023 release of the distillery's 21-year-old single malt. Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion chose 36 casks for it: ex-bourbon hogsheads, first-fill sherry-seasoned casks of European and American oak, and ex-Rioja casks, all filled between 1998 and 2001.
The nose offers tropical fruit, toasted almonds, freshly grated nutmeg and floral peat smoke. On the palate come lemon zest, fenugreek, apples caramelised in honey and cinnamon, and a little cedar-smoked sweet paprika. The finish holds woody spices, with a touch of citrus oil in heathery peat smoke.
