Highland Park Dragon Legend is a 2022 single malt from Orkney, bottled at 43.1% in a 70cl bottle. It draws on the Viking stories of the islands and on the courage and perseverance at the heart of the Viking code of honour. One legend tells of the warrior Sigurd gaining magic powers by defeating a dragon.
The whisky was matured in European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry, and it uses malt dried over local woodless Orkney peat. It is of natural colour and comes in a dark bottle.
The nose has vanilla pods, roasted notes, freshly cut grass and mulled wine. The palate brings earth, heather and smoke, with pepper, malt and an oily texture, and the short finish has dried fruit, barley and toast.
