Highland Park – Light 17 Years (70cl, 52.9%)

Highland Park Light is a 17 year old single malt, bottled at 52.9% in a 70cl bottle. It is the second release in a two-part series with Highland Park The Dark, which has been joined by this bottling since early 2018. The two stand for the contrasting seasons on Orkney, and Light celebrates spring and summer. The whisky matured only in American oak, which gives its pale gold colour. It comes in a pale green glass bottle with a stylised dragon inspired by Viking legends, and 28,000 bottles were released worldwide. The nose is summery and sweet with vanilla. The palate has caramelised pear, cedar and nutmeg, and the finish is gentle smoke with vanilla returning.
