Highland Park – Valknut (70cl, 46.8%)

Highland Park Valknut is an Orkney single malt, bottled at 46.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is the second release in the Viking Legend trilogy, inspired by the history and mythology of the Vikings. The name refers to a symbol of Norse mythology, usually linked with war and death. The whisky matured in ex-sherry casks of American oak. A small amount of Tartan barley grown on Orkney adds a smokier note and a lasting, sweet and spicy finish. The nose has toasted vanilla pods, pepper, oak shavings, cloves, aniseed and smoke. The palate is sweet with cloves and aniseed, and the finish is balanced and powerful, with aromatic peat smoke and sweet spices.
