Highland Park – Wings of the Eagle 16 Year Old (70cl, 44.5%)

This is a 16 year old single malt from Highland Park, bottled at 44.5% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the distillery's travel retail series, which draws on the wildlife that mattered to the Vikings. Here the eagle is the emblem, standing for wisdom and knowledge, and old legends say its wings stirred the winds that sweep across the earth. The whisky was matured in sherry casks. The nose is sweet and spicy. On the palate come figs, apricots and nutmeg, with marzipan and chocolate alongside. The finish is lightly smoky, sweet and lingering.
