Embra is a single malt from Holyrood Distillery, which began distilling in Edinburgh in 2019. It was bottled in 2024 at 43.6% and comes in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks, peated Islay quarter casks and American new oak.
The nose brings lemon zest, chestnut, a hint of peppermint and light hickory smoke. The palate is lightly peated, with biscuits, dark chocolate mousse and earthy Highland peat smoke. The finish is round and clean, with a note of stewed pears.
