Holyrood – Embra

Embra is a single malt from Holyrood, the Edinburgh distillery. It is made from a mash bill of heavily peated malt, distilling malt and a little chocolate malt. The whisky matures in first fill bourbon casks, peated Islay quarter casks and American oak, which gives smoky, spicy and gently sweet notes. The nose is led by mint and roasted chestnuts, wrapped in light mineral wood smoke. On the palate come juicy pear and crisp wafer, with dark chocolate and earthy smoke. The finish is long, with stewed pear sweetness fading into soft wood smoke.
