Hooten Young 8 Year is an American whiskey distilled by MGP in Indiana from a mash bill of 99% corn and 1% barley, then matured for eight years in oak barrels. It is bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle.
The brand was founded by Norm Hooten, a retired Delta Force master sergeant, and Tim Young. The whiskey was selected with Master Sommelier George Miliotes, who was looking for something that tasted very good and was different.
The nose is sweet baked corn and maple syrup with vanilla bean and seasoned oak. The palate is smooth, full-bodied and sweet, with butterscotch, caramel and honey, and the finish is long and mellow.
