Hyde No.11 is an eight-year-old Irish single malt, triple distilled from peated Irish malted barley. It matured in first-fill, charred white oak casks that previously held Bourbon.
This limited edition was released and bottled in 2021, in a run of 5,000 bottles. The 1949 on the label marks the year Douglas Hyde, the first president of Ireland, died. It is bottled at 43%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The nose is led by smoke, with pear, apple and a little dried fruit. On the palate, sweetness and smoke meet honey, pear and toasted oak, followed by a malty, biscuit-like note. The finish is full and rich, creamy in texture, with a peaty edge.
