Hyde No. 9 Iberian Cask is an Irish single malt finished in tawny port casks. It spent at least eight years in charred ex-bourbon casks from Kentucky, then a further nine months in first fill tawny port casks from Pinhão in Portugal's Douro Valley. It is the 1906 Commemorative Edition, bottled at 43% without chill filtration or added colour.
The nose is dark dried fruit, grapes and raisins, with hints of blackberry, cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate, green apple, honey and citrus join dried fruit, spices, black pepper and hazelnut, with a buttery vanilla note that lingers. The finish is medium to long, with grapes, malt and spice.
