Inniskillin Niagara Estate Riesling Icewine (37.5cl, 9.5%)

This is a Canadian icewine from the Niagara Peninsula, made by Inniskillin from 100% Riesling in a 37.5cl bottle at about 9.5% abv. The grapes were left to freeze naturally on the vine and harvested at around -10 °C. They were pressed while frozen, giving a concentrated must that was fermented without oak. The result is a sweet wine in which bracing acidity balances the intense sweetness. The nose shows lemon and lime zest, tropical peach, apricot and honeycomb, with a hint of candied ginger. On the palate come apricot jam, pineapple, mango and lemon drops, with candied orange peel and warm spice.
