J.J. Corry The Hanson Irish Whiskey (70cl, 46%)

The Hanson is a blended grain Irish whiskey from J.J. Corry, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered. It marries grain whiskeys from several Irish distilleries, all matured in ex-bourbon casks. The original recipe combined four- and ten-year-old whiskeys. The name recalls the son-in-law of the historic whiskey merchant J.J. Corry, a tax officer in the early twentieth century who was known in Cooraclare as 'The Gauger Hanson'. The nose brings vanilla fudge, toasted coconut, grilled pineapple and lime. The palate is lively, with green apples, coconut and fresh oak, and the finish is fresh, with lemongrass and salty, mineral notes.
