Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye is a Tennessee rye bottled at 45% ABV, with each bottling drawn from a single barrel. The mash is 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley, and the spirit is charcoal-treated before it matures in new charred American white oak barrels made at the distillery's own cooperage. The barrels are chosen from the upper levels of the warehouses in Lynchburg.
It was released in 2016 as the distillery's first fully aged rye, and its character can differ from one barrel to the next.
The nose is caramel, banana bread, toasted grain and cherry cake with light pepper. The palate is medium to full, with nutty grain, toasted dark bread, banana chips, oak and charcoal. The finish is long and dry, with toasted oak, nuts, vanilla and charcoal.
