Jameson 18 Year Old is a blend of triple distilled pot still whiskey and grain whiskey, made at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork. Each component is at least 18 years old, having matured in American bourbon barrels and European oak casks that previously held Spanish sherry.
After the whiskeys are married, they spend at least six months in first fill American oak barrels, which adds vanilla and sweetness. It is bottled at 40% in a 700ml bottle.
The nose is spicy and toasty, with toffee, raisins, apricot and dark plum. The palate is rich and mellow, with toffee, fudge, a little sherry nuttiness, vanilla and leather. The finish is long, with wood, spice and toffee.
