Kanosuke Single Malt Kagoshima Exclusive is a Japanese single malt from Kanosuke Distillery in Hioki, Kagoshima, and the first Kanosuke bottling made only for Kagoshima Prefecture. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered.
It is made with Hoshun, a two-row barley grown in Kagoshima and malted in-house using shochu koji-making equipment. The spirit matured in re-charred shochu casks and was vatted with spirit from other casks, including bourbon barrels.
The nose brings green apple, lemon cake, plum jam, cinnamon and brown sugar. On the palate come orange marmalade, quince and honey black tea, and the finish carries green apple sweetness through bitter orange to ginger.
