Kavalan – Peatist Ex-Bourbon Cask (70cl, 54%)

Kavalan Peatist Ex-Bourbon Cask is a single malt from the Kavalan distillery in Yilan, Taiwan, bottled at 54% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks, which bring vanilla, coconut and sweet oak alongside a clear note of peat smoke. Taiwan's warm, subtropical conditions speed up the exchange between spirit and cask. The nose offers tropical fruit, vanilla, citrus and soft peat smoke, with coconut, honey and sweet oak. The palate is full and creamy, with ripe pineapple, mango and vanilla, then caramel, citrus and gentle smoke. The finish is long and warm, with tropical fruit, vanilla, light smoke and oak.
