Kavalan Solist Peated Malt 9 Year Old - Itineraires (70cl, 57.1%)

This is a peated single malt from Kavalan in Taiwan, part of the Itinéraires selection within the Solist range. It matured for nine years in a single refill cask, was distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2025 at a cask strength of 57.1%. The cask gave 118 bottles, and the whisky is non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The malt was peated to about 10 ppm, and the smoke is restrained, sitting alongside fruit and spice. The nose is deep and fruity, with vanilla, plum, candied lemon, grapefruit and oily peat. The palate has light, ashy peat, leather, orange, banana and pineapple. The finish is long, with lemon peel, pineapple, honey and rosemary.
