Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique is a Taiwanese single malt in a 70cl bottle at 57% ABV, released for the 2025 Year of the Snake.
It is matured in casks that have held red and white wine. The casks are re-toasted before the whisky goes in, which points to a full-bodied, bold style.
The nose is vanilla and caramelised sugars with dark chocolate, ripe melon and mango. On the palate, kiwi and delicate citrus fruits come first, with pepper in the background. The finish is clean, with hints of chocolate and ripe fruit.
