This is the first Batch Strength from Kilchoman, an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, released in 2024 and bottled at 57%. It was created by master distiller Anthony Wills and is meant to reflect the power of the distillery, as Rory the bull does.
The whisky matured in a mix of re-charred red wine casks, ex-Oloroso sherry butts and ex-bourbon barrels, with a little spring water added to reach its strength. The peating level is 50ppm.
The nose is red fruit, fresh cherries, heather blossom and strong peat smoke. On the palate come toffee, spice and vanilla, with long-lasting peat smoke.
