Kilchoman – Exclusive Selection Small Batch No. 2 Bourbon Oloroso Sherry (70cl, 47.1%)

This is a small batch vatting of Islay single malt from Kilchoman, bottled at a cask strength of 47.1% in a 70cl bottle. It combines whisky matured in bourbon and sherry casks with a specially chosen Oloroso sherry hogshead, and the casks break down as 80% bourbon and 20% Oloroso sherry. Just 1200 bottles were filled. It pairs Kilchoman's usual citrus and peat smoke with richness, stone fruit and dark chocolate. The nose offers toasted cedar, melted butter on biscuits and a chocolatey note, with peat showing through. On the palate it stays peaty and lightly chocolatey, with juicy apple and pear. The long finish is gently spiced with cassia and clove.
