Kilkerran 16 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle, the sister distillery to Springbank. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and is described as the distillery's oldest release to date. The whisky was matured in 98% bourbon casks and 2% Madeira casks.
The nose combines minerals, lemon, digestive biscuits, roasted almonds and earthy notes, with a slightly dry, sour edge from the Madeira. The palate is rounded and sweet, with subtle dried fruit, sooty and peppery spirit, Mediterranean herbs, brine and earthy peat. The finish is lingering oak with a hint of chocolate.
