Knob Creek Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, made in small batches and bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof). It was first released in 2012.
The mashbill is high in corn, with rye just over the 51 per cent minimum, and the whiskey is aged in deeply charred new American oak. It pours a rich red amber.
The nose brings fresh cracked rye grain, green apple, vanilla and charred oak over a sweet syrup note. On the palate come white pepper, citrus rind, vanilla and oak, and the finish carries aged oak, rye spice and a touch of leather.
