Kujira 10 Year Old is a Ryukyu whisky from Japan, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled from 100% Indica rice and matured for more than ten years in virgin white oak casks.
It comes from Masahiro Distillery, which was founded in 1883 and traces its history back to the Ryukyu Kingdom era.
The nose is rich and buttery-sweet with caramel and sapwood spice, much like bourbon. The palate is sweet and buttery with caramel, roasted wood and liquorice, followed by clove and cinnamon. The finish is long, with spice and some bitterness before the sweetness returns.
