Kujira Ryukyu 30 Years Old is a Japanese whisky distilled from 100% Indica rice and matured in Okinawa, the warm, humid southern island of Japan. It comes in a 75cl bottle, and only 1999 bottles were released worldwide.
The whisky was aged for more than 30 years in sherry, bourbon and virgin white oak casks.
It is described as full-bodied and smooth, with ripe berries to the fore and a puckering sourness of Chinese herbs from the long-aged wood. Toasted oak scents lead into a strong flavour, and a hint of nectar and woody character lingers with lasting sweetness.
