Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish (70cl, 40%)

A 12 year old Japanese whisky from Kujira, finished in sherry casks and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The Kujira name was inspired by the tender, caring nature of whales, which are at home along the Okinawa coastline and are regarded as a guardian symbol of the islands. Sherry leads the nose, alongside molasses and corn syrup sweetness. The palate is dry and tart with fruit, with a hint of sweetness like rum mousse. The finish is long, starting bitter before a lasting sweetness comes through.
