Lagavulin 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, offered here as the 2022 Special Release in a 70cl bottle at 57.3% ABV.
For this release the team chose casks whose spirit showed a higher level of phenols at filling, the compounds that point to smokiness. Part of the vatting was then finished in virgin oak, which adds extra spiciness.
It is described as a very big and smoky dram.
