This is an official Lagavulin single malt from Islay, distilled in 1993 and bottled in February 2009 at 15 years old. It comes from the Managers' Choice series, drawn from a single ex-Bodega sherry butt at natural cask strength of 54.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. The release ran to 612 bottles, and sherried single cask Lagavulins are rare.
The nose is earthy, rooty and more medicinal than usual, with forest after summer rain, moss, fresh mushrooms and a little candy sugar, all fairly dry. The palate is drier and zestier, with lemon, oysters and very discreet sherry.
