Lagavulin – 16 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (75cl, 43%)

Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the distillery on the south coast of the island, founded in 1816 near the ruins of Dunyveg Castle. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The whisky spends 16 years in refill American and European oak casks. It is made from heavily peated barley and distilled in long, slow runs, and the warehouses sit above the shoreline of the Kildalton coast. The nose offers intense peat smoke, iodine, seaweed, sherry and dried fruit. On the palate it is dry and peaty with sherry sweetness, coffee and leather, and the finish is very long and warming, with smoke and dried fruit.
