Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt scotch, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. This edition comes in new packaging.
According to the importer, it matures in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, and colouring is added. Peat smoke sits alongside oak, vanilla and darker fruit.
The nose is deep peat smoke with maritime, iodine notes and a little sweetness and spice. On the palate, smoke meets sweet malt, toasted oak and a hint of heather, balanced by vanilla and fruity sherry influence. The finish is long and rather dry, with lingering smoke, spiced wood and dried fruit.
