This is a 21 year old Islay single malt from Lagavulin, distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2007 at a natural cask strength of 56.5%, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured entirely in Spanish sherry casks made from European oak, rather than the American oak often used for sherry, and was released as a fully sherried bottling. The nose brings menthol, hazelnut oil, prunes, orange marmalade, smoked ham and sea water. On the palate come pepper, walnuts, crystallised ginger, liquorice, tar and bitter oranges beneath a powerful smokiness. The finish is very long, salty and liquoricy.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
