This is the 1999 vintage of the Distillers Edition from Lagavulin on Islay, bottled in 2015 in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV.
It is a double-matured single malt: after its main maturation it was finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which add a sweet, sticky influence to the peated Islay style.
In the glass it is a golden treacle colour. The nose combines intense peat and vanilla with raisin sweetness, while the palate moves from grassy malt to smoke, a salty tang, coffee and fruit. The finish is very long.
